We are updated on the recent political developments around the globe. People’s revolt in Tunisia is considered to be a major development in the larger scenario. The Tunisian dictator Bin Ali had to flee from his country that he had ruled for few decades. In the same spirit, Egyptian population has an ongoing revolution against the dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak. On yet another similar note, Yemen undergoes the same kind of pressure from the people’s movement against their ruler Saleh. In all these cases; a majority was pushed to the fringes of society; yet a few enjoyed all the benefits of being in power. Poverty, Unemployment and Corruption were benchmarks of these rulers. It is not surprising that people began to raise voices against these injustices done to them. Biblical narratives, especially the history of Israel in captivity and their resistance against the Pharaoh brings parallels in history. Jesus’ missionary activities also targeted the money looters and the hypocrites of his time that neglected the vulnerable communities.
